Kitchen table at dusk with a laptop, a utility bill and a coffee mug, the quiet moment of working out whether a system swap is affordable

Financing

Every state we work in has a zero percent option. Most people do not know that.

Paying for the work

A $15,000 system is a monthly number, not a wall

Most people decide against a system swap before they ever get a quote, because the whole number lands at once and it sounds impossible. It usually is not. New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine each run a zero percent loan for efficiency work, and Mitsubishi extends financing through the Diamond Contractor network we belong to. Below is what each one actually pays, what it requires, and what your month looks like. Nothing to sign up for to read it.

Zero percent is real in all three states

Massachusetts goes to $25,000 at 0% over seven years. New Hampshire goes to $15,000 at 0%. Maine has a 0% option too, though its one-year term and $500 fee mean the fixed-rate loan usually costs less. These are state efficiency programs, not a promotion we invented, and we will tell you which one your project actually fits.

NHSaves Energy Efficiency Loan

Zero percent interest for the life of the loan on $1,000 to $15,000, repaid over anywhere from 12 to 84 months, offered through NHSaves partner banks.

  • One to four family owner-occupied New Hampshire homes.
  • You have to be enrolled in the NHSaves Home Energy Performance program.
  • The loan comes from a partnering bank, so approval is theirs, not ours.

Mass Save HEAT Loan

Zero percent interest on up to $25,000 for qualifying efficiency work, repaid over as long as seven years, with no origination fee, no closing costs, and no penalty for paying it off early.

  • The work has to be recommended during a Home Energy Assessment.
  • It has to be installed by a Mass Save participating contractor. JP Karos is in the Heat Pump Installer Network.
  • As of 2026 only R-32 and R-454B heat pumps qualify. R-410A systems are off the list, which costs you both the rebate and this loan.

Efficiency Maine Green Bank Loan

Unsecured loans up to $25,000 with no lien on your home or equipment, at fixed rates starting around 5.99%. A one-year zero percent option exists but carries a $500 origination fee, so it only makes sense on a balance you intend to clear quickly.

  • Unsecured, so there is no lien placed on the property or the equipment.
  • No application fee and no prepayment penalty.
  • The 1-year 0% option carries a $500 origination fee. On most swap-sized balances the fixed-rate option costs less.

For Maine commercial customers: 4.99% with no money down and no closing fees, over 12, 24, or 36 months, with no prepayment penalty.

  • Commercial and small-business properties, not owner-occupied homes.
  • Terms are 12, 24, or 36 months.

Mitsubishi financing through our Diamond Contractor status

Mitsubishi Electric extends consumer financing through its Diamond Contractor network, which is what JP Karos is. It covers work the state efficiency loans will not: full system replacements, plumbing, emergency repairs, and anything that skips the assessment process.

  • Works in all three states and is not tied to an efficiency program.
  • The Synchrony Project Card is the standard path, applied for through the finance company Mitsubishi registers.
  • Declined elsewhere? Fortiva Retail Credit, issued by The Bank of Missouri, is a genuine second-look program we can put in front of you.
  • Your rate depends on the lender and your credit. The number shown here is a representative example, not a quote.

Prequalification request

See where you stand without a credit hit

This is not a credit application and it does not touch your credit. It gathers what a lender will ask for, so James can point you at the right program and tell you honestly whether it is likely to work, usually the same business day.

What we will not do

  • Quote you a monthly payment the lender then refuses to honor. Every figure here states what it assumes.
  • Present a zero percent offer that quietly carries a fee. Where a fee exists, it is inside the number.
  • Run your credit to give you a ballpark. That is exactly what this page is for.
  • Tell you financing is the right answer when paying outright costs you less.

No credit check. No hard pull. No lender sees this until you say so.

What are we financing?

An estimate is fine. It changes which programs are open to you.

Do you own the property?
Roughly where is your credit?

Your own estimate is fine. Nobody checks this and it does not decide anything.

FAQ

Does this affect my credit score?
No. Nothing on this page touches your credit. There is no soft pull and no hard pull. We collect what a lender would ask for so we can point you at the right program, and you decide whether to actually apply.
Is zero percent real, or is there a catch?
It is real, and the catch is eligibility rather than hidden interest. Massachusetts runs the HEAT Loan at 0% up to $25,000 over seven years with no fees at all, but the work has to come out of a Home Energy Assessment and be installed by a participating contractor, which we are. New Hampshire runs a 0% loan up to $15,000 through the Home Energy Performance program. Maine's 0% option is only a one-year term and carries a $500 origination fee, so its fixed-rate loan is usually the cheaper choice.
What if the state programs will not cover my job?
Then we use conventional financing. Mitsubishi extends consumer financing through the Diamond Contractor network, and as a Diamond Contractor we can put that in front of you. It covers work the efficiency programs will not touch, including emergency replacements and plumbing.
What if my credit is not great?
There is a real second-look path. Fortiva Retail Credit, issued by The Bank of Missouri, exists specifically for customers who do not clear traditional financing, and we can offer it. Tell us honestly where you are on the form and we will point you at the path most likely to actually work rather than the one that looks best on a page.
Can financing and rebates be used together?
Yes, and that is usually the strongest play. The rebate reduces what you owe and the loan spreads the rest. On a Massachusetts heat pump that can mean up to $8,500 off the top and the balance at zero percent.
Does my equipment choice affect what I qualify for?
In Massachusetts, significantly. As of 2026 only R-32 and R-454B heat pumps are on the Mass Save qualified list. An R-410A system carries neither the rebate nor the HEAT Loan, which can swing your out-of-pocket by thousands. We size and specify with that in mind rather than discovering it at the rebate stage.

JP Karos Plumbing & HVAC is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. Program terms shown were verified in July 2026 and are set by the programs themselves, not by us. Monthly figures are illustrations from the amounts you enter, not offers of credit. Final terms, approval, and eligibility come from the lender or program administrator.
