Does a heat pump work in NH winters?
Yes, and the number that actually matters is not the bottom limit. Mitsubishi H2i units hold 100 percent of their rated heating capacity down to 5 degrees, and keep heating to 13 below. Losing output long before it gets cold is the failure people have heard about; that is what hyper-heat is engineered against. Most of our installs still keep the existing boiler as backup, because that is what we would do in our own houses.
What size mini split do I need?
The honest answer is a heat-loss calculation, not a square-footage chart. Oversized units short-cycle and undersized units run flat out. We size from your home's actual numbers and show the math at the site visit.
Do I lose my rebate if I keep the boiler?
Sometimes it changes the tier, and that's exactly why we run the math first. Whole-home and partial-home rebates differ in every state. We confirm your eligibility before you sign anything.
Do mini splits always mean a unit on the wall?
No. Mitsubishi's EZ FIT ceiling-recessed cassette tucks between standard ceiling joists and sits flush, so the room reads like a conventional vent. It's ENERGY STAR certified, rated SEER2 up to 22.9 and HSPF2 up to 11.9 per Mitsubishi's current published data, keeps heating at 13 below on H2i systems, and comes in 6,000 to 18,000 BTU sizes with built-in Wi-Fi. We'll tell you room by room where a cassette beats a wall unit.
